The Two-Minute Unwind (When You're Tired but Wired)

When your body is exhausted but your mind won't switch off, it's often a sign your nervous system is still running on alert. A Two-Minute Unwind is a simple breath ritual, inhale for 4, exhale for 6, repeated eight times, designed to gently shift you out of urgency and into rest, even after a long day.

Wisdom to Carry

To take a breath; to pause for a moment."

What it means in modern life: You don't have to earn rest. A small pause can be enough to shift your nervous system out of urgency.

What This Season May Be Asking of You

If your mind keeps running at night, it's often because your day never gave you a clean ending. This ritual offers that ending, a small, deliberate close to the day, before sleep begins.

The Ritual: A Two-Minute Exhale

One step, two minutes, anywhere:

Sit or lie down comfortably. Place one hand on your chest as an anchor. Inhale slowly for 4 counts, then exhale for 6 counts. Repeat 8 times, letting each exhale last a little longer than the inhale.

The longer exhale signals safety to your nervous system, helping shift you from "alert" to "rest."

Food for Thought

What am I still carrying from today that can wait until tomorrow?

Some nights, rest doesn't need a routine, just one breath, held a little longer than the last.
